October 11, 2020: "And I think at this moment in the world and our society — the reality of our world — these readings should encourage us, and give us hope. These months of the coronavirus pandemic have been dark. There’s been so much disruption, so much sickness and sadness, so many people dying. And it just keeps continuing, it is difficult to imagine when it will end."

October 4, 2020: “On behalf of the Catholic Church in the United States, I welcome the Holy Father’s new encyclical letter on human fraternity. Like Laudato Si’ before it, Fratelli Tutti is an important contribution to the Church’s rich tradition of social doctrine."

October 4, 2020: "And I was thinking that as we hear these readings this morning, we should pray especially for all our brothers and sisters in the wine country in the northern part of the state, who are suffering badly because of the wildfires. And then also let us pray for an end to the fires everywhere in our state, and all the other western states. And for all those who have been injured and lost their livelihoods, and let’s pray for all those who are still in harm’s way."
