The future is with life! And life is the way of the Church. Our vision is spiritual not political. The cause of life is greater than the limitations of our political distinctions, like “pro-life” and “social justice,” liberal or conservative. In the face of the suffering and human need in the world, we cannot compartmentalize our compassion or draw lines between those we will care about and those we will not. God is our Father and he sees only his children. And when one of God’s children is suffering or in danger, he calls the rest of us to love and compassion.
A post-Roe America will not mean the end of abortion. It will return the issue to the states to enact their own laws regulating the practice. My hope is that we will come together and seize this opportunity to create a post-Roe America where human life is cherished and cared for, and where the family is recognized as the true foundation of a just and prosperous society.

America was founded on the great truth that all men and women are created equal and that God gives everyone basic rights that no one can deny or take away. Roe v. Wade turned this beautiful truth inside out.
Our society’s elites tell us that abortion and euthanasia are private, deeply personal matters that ultimately should concern only the individuals involved. But evils and injustices committed behind closed doors are still evil and unjust and are never only personal — they have consequences and implications for our life together.
The Gospel of life is not only the heart of the Gospel — it’s also the heart of the Church’s social witness. Everything we do is rooted in the beautiful truth that every human life matters — because every human life is sacred and created by the loving plan of God. In the United States, we are a long way from the “new culture of life” that St. John Paul called us to build.

In the Scriptures, God shows us that his priorities are always with those in society who are most defenseless — the widow, the orphan, the stranger. That is why the Church has spoken up for the child in the womb since the early days of the Roman Empire. That is why today, the Church continues to see abortion and euthanasia as grave evils and the most fundamental injustice in our society.
